The treadmill is one of the easiest pieces of fitness equipment to use, one expert has said.

In an article for the Dallas News, treadmills were noted for their ease of use as well as their widespread popularity.

Personal Trainer Natasha Swan told the newspaper: "It"s a parallel to something you do every day. It"s quick, it"s easy. It doesn"t take a lot of adjusting. I find that the majority of people are most comfortable with the treadmill."

The newspaper added that users looking for more of a workout may wish to consider using other fitness equipment, such as light dumbbells, while on the treadmill.

Other pieces of equipment that were noted for their popularity include elliptical cross trainers, where both the upper and lower parts of the body are used, which can help home gym users see results from their exercise more quickly.

Rowing machines and stair mills were also noted as some useful pieces of fitness equipment.

Some treadmills, including the i-run range from Reebok, have been designed to be suitable for smaller spaces.
