The benefits of heart rate monitors on helping to regulate health have been highlighted by an expert.

In an article for the Los Angeles Times, the benefits that heart rate monitors can have on overall health have been highlighted.

"A heart rate monitor allows an individual to make any activity into a healthful and beneficial exercise, such as walking the dog or even cleaning your house, because you can modulate your effort to achieve the exercise effect," Jose Maresma-Fois, an exercise physiologist for Polar Electro, told the paper.

Heart rate monitors can also help individuals to determine the intensity of their workout, meaning that they can tell how long they need to be exercising for in any one session in the home gym.

A number of heart rate monitors were recently recommended by Men"s Fitness magazine, with models from Polar and Suunto, as well as Cardio Sport being rated highly.
