Heart Rate Monitors

A new fitness gadget developed by Nike is rumoured to be an alternative to the iPod-enabled Nike+ workout tracker.
Reports claim the device, which is thought to be nicknamed the Nike SportBand, will retail in the UK for around £45 when it is officially unveiled later this spring and may be a cost-efficient choice for exercisers who are looking for a fitness tracking system that does not require an iPod.
Citing MacLife, the electronista gadget blog stated the SportBand can measure time, speed, calories consumed and distance - information which is written to a memory stick and can then be uploaded to a computer.
The blog claimed Samsung and Adidas have recently also announced a joint venture entitled the miCoach - a mobile phone which features a music player, stereo FM radio and a pedometer and heart rate monitor, among other fitness-friendly options.
Like the Nike+, the miCoach can also be synced with an online site where workouts can be tracked and planned.
