Strapless monitors "can work well"
Heart Rate Monitors

A range of strapless heart rate monitors have been reviewed and rated by one publication.

Strapless heart rate monitors come in two forms, either in a wristwatch style or as a ring to be worn on a finger.

The Los Angeles Times notes that strapless heart rate monitors are popular with certain types of people, but may be less popular with "hardcore" athletes because of the perception that they are less accurate than traditional styles of heart rate monitors.

However, the newspaper notes that strapless heart rate monitors have a range of benefits - something which may be of interest to the home gym user.

Reebok"s Hybrid Plus model, which works with and without a chest strap was noted as a particular favourite by the reviewers, as it offered the benefits and convenience of a continual readout when the strap was in use but also offered the comfort of a strapless model at other times.

Also, one heart rate monitor has been created with a transmitter built into the shirt, which offered the accuracy of more traditional models.

In related news, the same paper recently suggested that heart rate monitors offer a number of benefits to users, as they allow a close eye to be kept on their pulse.
